Stories from the archive

The registers and other administrative records of the Archbishops of York are rich resources for understanding everyday life and historical events in the north of England. In ‘Stories from the Archives’ we are collecting examples of these stories from the period 1304-1405 as part of the AHRC-funded project ‘The Northern Way: the Archbishops of York and the North of England, 1304-1405’. We hope these inspire you to use the registers in your own research. You can find links to the registers and more background information about their contents and organisation on our University website.
